It really has been too long. So, to ease ourselves back into this and to talk about what we are doing in the future, let's take a night off from kitchen duty and just relax, feast and talk.

Our next dinner club will be May 22.

A weeknight dinner is a first for us. Does 630pm sound okay? Great.

Things you should bring to Reethika Indian Restaurant:

    1. An appetite
    2. Any alcoholic beverage that you want to drink (they will have water, soda, etc)
    3. Ideas for future dinner club meals
    4. $12 a person

Things you should tell me before you come to Reethika:

    1. That you are coming
    2. If you have any special requests for our very special evening buffet (I promise there will be plenty of spinach crack)
    3. A secret. Anything will do.

    More details:

Reethika is located in a strip mall off of Sawmill Road. It is next door to Kihachi.

    RSVP below please!

(I promise we will get back to cooking too much food for all future dinners)

So there were some problems with our super cool, big enough to host a large party venue for our original date (11.12.11) but there are no problems with that same great place for 11.19.11. And enough people really wanted to keep on keeping on that the same great "Let Your Roots Show" dinner has been moved to 11.19.11.

I'm sorry if this has become a night you can no longer attend. Really. I am really really sorry.

So, around 7pm ish on Saturday 11.19.11, bring something to eat or drink that shows off your roots to Wild Goose Creative 2491 Summit Street  Columbus, OH 43202.

    There is street parking available.

This is not at someone's home, so you should plan on bringing a beverage or two for yourself. Of course, we do love when people come prepared to share.

You do not do not do not need to prepare food for 30 people, 50 people or 80 people but you do need to bring something to share with some of the folks. I am fairly certain no one will go hungry in this crowd.

Tweet, email, comment on this post or call 614.975.9543 (Kate) if you have questions.

And if you could do me a favor and please comment below if you intend on coming on this new night - that will be much appreciated.

There is a problem with the super big space that we had planned on filling with our smiling faces and big plates of heritage food. The big problem is that it is no longer available to us on November 12 (this Saturday).

This is where the punch line snare drum thing happens. You know what I am talking about, right? The noise thingy that is all barump bump. This.

Except this is not really a joke.

So. We have options and since I failed at social media in regards to the December dinner, I would like your input.

    1. We could use that really awesome space that you know of that just happens to be available for this Saturday and could hold anywhere from 20-70 people (because at this point, we have no idea how many of you are serious about wanting to attend this dinner) at no actual cost to any one (because we do this for fun, not to make money, so we don't actually have group money to spend).

    2. We could move the dinner to November 19 because that space we wanted to use is completely available next weekend!

    3. We could have a bunch of awesome Columbus people host the dinners in their homes around town - many dinner clubs happening at the same time.

    4. We could cancel, have a great holiday or three and meet again in 2012.

    5. We could occupy ___.

    6. We could do something brilliant that I haven't thought of but you are about to suggest.

    Discuss. Please.

This is not the place to RSVP for this dinner. (Do that here.)

No, this is the place to talk about what you are thinking of bringing, brag about your wonderfully open-minded family, or make your requests here.

So, go on. Tell us what dish you will be making during the holidays (or for this dinner) that your family will snub but we will love.

As of 11.20.11, this dinner has been uncancelled because many of us cannot imagine another month without good good food that our in-laws would not eat and amazing company. We'll still reconvene next year too.

    ***

As of 11.2.11, this dinner was cancelled because many of us had family things come up. Take a month off, we will regroup and reconvene next year.

    ***

    The rules of this meal:

    • You cannot arrive empty-handed unless you are really funny AND good at washing dishes. Well, that is not entirely true. There is definitely peer pressure to bring food or drink that you prepared.
    • That food or drink should be the dish that you made for the holidays or a family meal that your mom/dad/sister-in-law, in a momentof stunningly poor judgment, refused to eat. Make it for us and you will feel the appreciation and love.
    • This dinner will be limited to the first 25 people to RSVP below.

    How to RSVP:

    1. Comment below using your Twitter or FB account (Hitting the FB like button will not count as an RSVP but as an expression of your love). If you create a Posterous account to comment, make sure to mention your Twitter or Facebook name so we know to whom we are talking.
    2. Tell us, in your comment, how many people are included in your RSVP (that would be a good time to mention your +1).
    3. Once we reach our limit (wouldn't that blow your mind? It would mine.), I will leave a comment saying as much. Any comments after that will be considered the wait list.
    4. If you are one of those lucky 25 people with a guaranteed seat at our table, we will send you a link (by Twitter of FB) to the address and pertinent details as the day gets closer.
    5. If you cannot attend, let us know as soon as you know.

    RSVP in 3... 2...1...

    Go.

    1. You cannot arrive empty-handed unless you are really funny AND good at washing dishes. Well, that is not entirely true. There is definitely peer pressure to bring food or drink that you prepared.
    2. That food or drink should be rooted in the culinary traditions of your heritage. Except for Paul because, well, I mean, Swedish food?
    3. This dinner will be limited to the first 80 people to RSVP below. (Seriously. 80 people.)

Oh, regarding the size of this event: you do not have to prepare a dish that would feed 80 people unless you really like large production kitchen prep or your dish is so frickin' amazing that everyone must have seconds.
